but the vocals are good actually??
thank u so much :)
I like that this is a really low-key deconstructed dubstep type of thing. Humorous use of the grubhub samples is good too. I'm not sure I'm totally on board with the mixing here though, for one thing I feel like the bass is really lacking in terms of harmonics. It's all SUPER low end, which makes it a bit weird to listen to with headphones, and I'm sure would be virtually inaudible through a cheap speaker (and ideally you want to be mixing so that it sounds good no matter what it's played on). I'd say start by give those bass synths some push in the mid ranges and maybe add some more instrumentation in the high end. Yeah, that's my take - good composition but the mixing needs work.
It took a good while for me to get the bass to where you can hear it decently because I didn't want it to sound like an obnoxious wobbling buzzing sound and I didn't want it to sound too low like you said. Along with that im making this stuff on a low end laptop.
Love the groove. That melody is really infectious too. I want this to be in some kind of sidescroller game, Sonic or something.
Actually, the more I think about it, I'm imagining an endless scroller "Beat em up-esque" rhythm game where the player controls a super smooth cool character walking through a city street occupied with 80's baddie-style villains who try to attack the player, but you never actually fight back. Just glide by, doing slick dance moves, hands in pockets 90% of the time. Bweeboo, boodoopdoopboopdoop Bweeebooo.
haha that sounds perfect!
Damn this is sick. As far as the instrumental goes, I love that I keep finding myself starting to get into a groove, nodding my head and all, but then it gets all disrupted and suddenly I'm being surprised by what's going on. I love music that keeps me on my toes like that.
And for vocal delivery - the cadence is what really sells this for me. The way the words flow from one to another is great. Really into it. Looking forward to checking out your album you posted here too.
Thank you so much! š This has just made my day. ā„ļø
I dig this, really groovey in the first half with an emotional ending. If I were to change anything about it, it's that I would bring back that dancey beat from about 48 seconds in at the end. I get that it's a stylistic choice, but I felt like for the last minute of the song we were building to a release that never arrived. Still though, like I said, I see it as a cool stylistic choice, and it was really nice that this piece had a lot of strong changes and didn't fall into any severe repetition. Really nice work!
Thank you GoodL!! Yeah that part was one of my favourite moments of the song, I'll try to bring that feeling back in future songs and give it a better use. To be honest, I think the structure of the song is super messed up and notoriously rushed too, at the point of thinking it almost doesn't have one, so I'll also try to organize my music better for the future. Really glad you liked it!
lmao littlbeatbox. Love it :) Fun stuff, and it's cool that you opened up this inktober idea for collabs too, could be some room for interesting stuff in there if more people step up! Keep it up, cd!
Yeah I'm thinking it might keep the inspiration flowing too. :) This certainly did. Glad you liked and will do! Btw, I realized I never really elaborated on how I came up with the idea of doing Inktober with audio on the pod, basically: I want to focus more on audio, and I feel like this could be the springboard I need to become more active with this, both good practice and a running start into future projects. I write most of this by hand too, so the ink technicality works. Maybe you read that in the first one though. Idea: not sure where I got that! Though I hope I'm the first to get it. Would be cool to start somethin' here.
Really dig this format! Awesome discussion going on here. I was super into the discussion on pixel art, especially on the topic of what really counts as pixel art, and I strongly agree with the consensus you all had in that pixel art can be a lot of different things and no one form of pixel art is inherently more valid than any other.
Will, about your problem with finding NSFW artists to interview, have you considered asking them if they would be willing to use a voice changer? Or perhaps you could offer to change their voices in post. Just something to think about.
Great episode!
There's an idea... Like witness protection
Real nice track! The instrumentation is all stellar, and I especially loved when the percussion kicked in, made for a really nice moment. I think it was pretty neat how many different instrument sounds you managed to cycle through so pristinely. Good to hear some new music from ya :)
Thanks man!
This was a great episode! RealFaction comes off as such a nice and relatable person. Really enjoyed listening to this interview, hearing about all of RF's various projects and also what really goes on inside the walls of the Pico Day parties. Thank you so much for the shoutout to A Couple of Crickets, that means a lot to me. Keep up the good work, Will!
Thanks! o/
Awesome track! I love this. The orchestral instruments and lovely arrangements over those dancey synths is really something to behold. You did a great job here! :)
Thank you! ^^ Iām glad that you enjoyed it.
